With great dedication and enthusiasm and in a very efficient working climate, nine eager-to-learn participants have successfully completed the course «Sustainability Management in the Shoe, Leather and Textile Industry (IHK)». This in-service training is a novelty in the ISC training offer. It consists of two modules of one week each. The course has been conceived on the inititiative of the industry and is conducted by ISC and the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) in cooperation with the Hong Kong-based Consulting Service International (CSI).
The training course «Sustainability Management in the Shoe, Leather and Textile Industry (IHK)» addresses employees of manufacturers, trade companies and brands wishing to actively pursue the implementation of a sustainable strategy within their own organisation as well as along the value creation chain.
The «pioneer group» attended the two training modules in March and April 2018 at ISC in Pirmasens / Germany.
In the first module, the trainers Miriam Oehler and Lukas Rebentisch (both CSI) started out by imparting a basic understanding of sustainability in general, of international directives and their impact on companies and their entire value creation chain.
The second module focused on how to translate the acquired knowledge into concrete actions.
Using case studies and practical examples the participants could identify challenges and opportuinities of stakeholder initiatives in the areas of social standards, environmental protection and product safety, looking at each aspect from different angles: from the meta-view down to regional and local directives and requirements. The participants explicitly appreciated this highly practical approach.
Exchange was key as well: The variety of fields of activity of the firms represented by the participants allowed manifold insights into different working environments and stages of processing.
New Course Dates: Autum 2018
